Bedak nyonya... a.k.a the Nyonya or Amoi Powder!

The woman on the powder lid smiles from the 60s until now! :D

Whoever have grandmas from China, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia sure know this nyonya powder... It's samfong powder and I call it the bedak nyonya, means "chinese powder"...

I saw this powder at the Indian shop nearby while shopping with my dad.. Since I like vintages I buy this powder la... and I ask dad about it. Dad said his mom (my grandma) used to use this powder back in the 80s. Dad said he used to play army with his brother using this powder lol... There are no sponge coming with this powder so you have to use your finger or cotton to dab the powder to your face.. Some blogs also say that this powder is good for finding grey hair and polishing silver because it is made of calcium carbonate... Yes, calcium carbonate is the main ingredient in this powder.

My review is... This powder is pretty nice on my skin... it absorbs oil and make my skin soft and smooth... I look like a geisha after applying this powder lol. This powder have one effect to my skin... this powder even when not applied on my face again will leave my cheeks reddish... I dont know why though... but I sure love it :P My advise to you if you want to use this nostalgic powder is, dont use too much because you will look like you're a performer at a chinese opera if you use too much... hahaha...
